NAN LIU

Excerpt from Tom Anderson, on Paintings of Life:
”Liu Nan is not a traditional Chinese painter anymore, nor does he have a purely Western sebsibility. Instead, he reflects his multicultural nature of contemporary America. He depicts a primarily African American woeld as seen thorugh Chinese American eyes, with a sensibility that has been molded within contemporary and classic influences from east and west. The world he depicts is one that is both familiar and unique: a world that is personal and in some respects universal, a world that he sees everyday, but one that he renders in a way that’s specific to his sensibilities and insights.”
